The DMAC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is committed to protecting your privacy and using your information responsibly. This Data Usage & Sharing Policy explains how the GetHomeSafe app (“App,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares data.

The GetHomeSafe app is provided free of charge, and user data is used only to support functionality, safety features, and program improvement. We do not sell data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect the following types of information:

Location data is used only when safety features are active and only for the purpose of helping you stay safe.

  • Contact your designated emergency contacts if you trigger a safety action

  • Troubleshoot problems and enhance app performance

  • Understand how the App is used to improve its design and functionality

  • Support the DMAC Foundation’s mission of youth safety and overdose prevention

We do not use your data for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. How We Share Your Data

We share data only when necessary and never for profit.

a. Emergency Contacts You Select

When you trigger a safety alert, your chosen contacts may receive:

  • Your name or nickname

  • Your message or status

  • Your real-time location (if enabled)

You control who is added or removed as an emergency contact.

b. Trusted Service Providers

We may use secure third-party tools to support:

  • App hosting and cloud storage

  • Crash reporting and technical support

  • Basic analytics to improve safety and functionality

These providers are required to protect your data and cannot use it for their own purposes.

c. Law Enforcement or Safety Authorities (Only When Legally Required)

We may share data if:

  • A valid legal request is received

  • Immediate harm or danger is suspected

  • You consent to such disclosure

We do not voluntarily provide data unless required by law or necessary for user safety.

  • Delete the App at any time, removing local data

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for users 13 years and older.
For minors under 18, parental or guardian guidance is recommended when setting up emergency contacts or safety features.

We may update this policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. The “Last Updated” date will show the most recent version.
